I Choose To Rise‏

(Just a quick update, I finished my mid-term. I feel good with where I am at in the course and two, I have been doing really well with my food choices, it feels good that I am not giving into random food choices.)

I've been a little reflective lately, I kept wanting to get to a point of understanding and something came to me today. I know we have certain challenges given to us for a reason, we can choose to rise or fall to them.

I felt like if I could understand how this has made me a better person, has it taught me anything? I wanted to make sense of it... Today it did, I think I had to lose contact with 'him' so that I could understand the importance of keeping in contact with people even when things get tough. So many people across the world reached out to me and kept reaching out to me.
I felt like I wanted to put more effort in to get to know people better. Many of you are on other media sites with me (FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, FaceBook Fan Page, Bloglovin), where we interact through them, pretty regularly. I've made some real friends here, people that I would love to meet some day if I could... I should say will.
I think that if I hadn't dealt with such a great loss... I might not have come to know so many of you and so closely, all of your comments or messages always uplift me and make me smile... I lost a lot but I gained a great deal in return...

I understand that I had to be grateful for that loss or I might never understand why... I have some amazing memories of 'him'; I was very happy ... I had been wondering if the high was worth the low? The answer today is yes because I gained so much more. Today I choose to rise and show gratitude for difficult challenges.

  1. I have a sign above my fireplace that has the Bible verse "In everything give thanks," on it. Sometimes that is a really hard thing to do because you really don't feel grateful for everything all the time. Still it is a good reminder for me because even on my very worse days, if I stop and think about it, I can come up with many things I am grateful for. Sometimes when things don't go as I wished or hoped for, I console myself with being grateful for a new perspective. Well-written post, Launna. I like this, and I like the way you choose to view things.

  2. Always be grateful for all that you have even when you lose things, there is a lot more to gain in terms of strength. Someone once told me, before you die, if you can count how many close friends you love and trust on one hand or more, then you are the richest person in the world.

  3. I'm with you on that. I went through a bad breakup three years ago. I'm still recovering. probably always will. but I'm at the same time thankful for everything that happened to me because it got me to where I am right now. which is not a bad place. imperfect and unstable, but not bad. I'm glad you are doing well. keep going xoxo

  11. Yay for being finished with your midterm and good food choices!
We should be grateful for everything...it's the struggles that make us stronger and give us more wisdom on what we gained from the loss..Life will never run out of obstacles, but we can choose to rise over them and move on, or stay in the same place and make no progress emotionally, physically, or spiritually.
I am so thankful that through the blogging community I was able to meet wonderful people like you..and great reflection :)

  21. That is definitely the silver lining to the dark cloud!!! After a nasty breakup I went through in the mid-00s, I found MySpace blogging and developed a huge following there (during the site's VERY brief heyday!). It helped me hone my writing ability and gave me a feeling of community. It's definitely much easier when you can open your computer and interact with people rather than face your lonely home/apartment!

  22. The best thing we can do is give God all the thanks in everything.
Romans 5: 3-5 says "And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us."

You my dear friend have true character, I do believe that you have persevered through much and you have hope too. Praising God through our storms is the best way we can show Him how much we trust and love Him. Keep going girlfriend.

  23. Thanks for this Launna. Worth reading =) Yep no matter how much we struggle it is always worth the rise. From our mistakes we learn from it. it's really up to the person whether he/she would learn from it and makes things right or forget it and make things even worst. thanks for dropping by on my blog dear. also have new post here: http://anotsosecretlife2011.blogspot.com/

  24. Congratulations on the midterm! I'm glad you've been given some clarity as to why things panned out as they had. And in a selfish and greedy way I too am grateful because it meant I got to find you and with it a wonderful friendship. You've been such a rock to me Launna. I'm virtually a stranger, anonymous out here on the web and you've never questioned and always offered support and guidance when I needed it. And I've needed it quite a bit! I hope one day we can meet face to face over a meal or drinks and just talk. Thank you for being so wonderfully you.

I'm still lacking, but I feel like I have a better view on things than I did before. You've helped me through a lot. And I truly appreciate it, Launna.

  35. Love the quote that 'every test in life makes you bitter or better' and I hadn't heard that but it's so true and sometimes people need to go through a brief bitter phase after something bad, but hopefully realize soon it's much better to move on and become better instead. Your words are so powerful and well thought about how you're handling everything. Thanks for the social media too, I realized there's some I still need to find you. :))

  68. A VERY long time ago when I was in college, my writing instructor was an elderly Russian gentleman. I told him I wanted to write a novel one day. He told me something very wise---he said I would never be a good enough writer until I had suffered. At the time, I didn't understand it. But I sure do now. You have to go through tragedy and loss in all it's forms to understand what is deep inside you. It builds character and strength. I think that's what you are finding inside yourself, Launna. You have faith and confidence now. XO

All of your words, all of your massages, all of your posts, thoughts, things we wrote each other changed something for me according to what a blog is about! Without these highs you had, and of all the lows, following to your loss, we wouldnt have met each other. Cant imagine that at all! I know we gonna meet each other once.
