I Am Worthy, Just Because I Am Me

I had an interesting week, one with a lot of ups and downs... those are the ones you learn from the most. They are not easy but growth never is and as much as we say how life would be simpler without challenges, at least for me I know that life would be rather boring and unchanging.

I was speaking with someone about an injustice they were dealing with, about how they wanted to get back at the person who had hurt them... I asked them why? Then I said, you know what, people that do things to hurt others have that all come back to them... we don't have to do or say anything. As a matter a fact I pray for the woman that has done countless things to hurt me in the past year and a half... I feel sad for her that she doesn't know her own worth... if she did, she would not waste her time trying to hurt me.
So, I told the person I was talking with that although they have been hurt, the best thing they could do was walk away, don't give that person an ounce of satisfaction by fighting back... I never retaliated and I never will because I know my worth and I don't need to prove it to her or anyone else. I just need to live my life and be the best person that I can be... my worth is not tied up in someone else, especially not in someone else who doesn't know their own.

I am not sure the person I talked to understood but I am hoping they do, because retaliating will only hurt them and keep the issue open which will actually make it worse. I understand that whatever path they take is the one they will have to deal with but I realized even more that I made the right choice in never responding to her and I could have but what would it have proved? I know I have the truth on my side and frankly the truth always has a way of coming out... it cannot be hidden forever.
I had some moments in time brought up to me through Facebook memories and Time Hop... which reminded me that I had very little self worth at one time, that was difficult to see but I also saw where I started to change, where I began to understand the truth. I saw the shift in my thinking, it was subtle at first... I stumbled from time to time with the knowledge of my worth as I think we all do. Basically because we expect so much from ourselves and when we fail we sometimes believe our worth goes with the failure.

This is not true though, our self worth is always there. It is us who needs to remember this and not use it as an excuse to give up our worth and settle for less then we deserve. The old me would have lowered the bar and accepted less, thinking that was all I could have but the new me knows I am worthy, just because I am me....

  1. i feel you Launna -.-, There's actually one point in my life where I was humiliated by this person, even call me different sh**ts, but I stood up and I laughed at her. I pity her for saying nasty things about me, because she only shows that she's unhappy in her life, she was envious of me and I feel sad for her. I only pray and hope for her to realize things and to just focus on her life of being a mother for her 4 children for her to also feel all the love that I feel.. Being surrounded by my friends, my family and my loved ones, made me feel worthy :))

  4. Yes, you are more than worthy! It's so hard to leave the bad behavior of others alone sometimes. It's a difficult lesson to learn, but I figure if a person has a problem with me, it's their problem, not mine. Hope you have a wonderful week Launna!

  6. I really struggle with this to be honest. I always want to get back at the person for how much they hurt me. I don't in the end but I still get very angry. And I always struggle with self worth being tied to another person. I love your posts because they are so relevant to me.

  12. Hiya Launna...I just wanna say that the quotes you always put up here are really nice. I love them all. I connect with them on a different level.....and I agree with all you have said, I stay away from negativity....I can't deal mehnn....I just don't have the space for that in my heart, head or mind....so I distant myself from such people.

  13. Saying nothing at all could sometimes be the best response. Toxic people should be kept away.

  14. I agree with you, revenge isn't the solution. It won't undo the damage that's been done. Walking away is better. Leaving it all behind. And then trusting that the universe will somehow take care of payback.

  21. Hi my dear Launna. First of all, I wannnnnna say helllo hello hellllllo to you, because I missed you so so much!! I was on a vacation, and in a way, it was something good. A much needed vacation to be honest!! But I missed you so much, and can't thank you enough for always cheering me up and brightening my day!! <3

And now, coming back to this post, I will be honest with you, but I have been through the same thing. My ex boyfriend hurt me really bad (he slept with some random chic and got her pregnant, and then hid the fact that she gave birth to the child afterall!!). Crazy stuff, and even despite that, I still continued clinging onto him, because I "loved" him. Until I realised what the heck am I doing with my life? And so as soon as I realised that, I ran as fast as I could, and have never looked back since. It's been a solid 4.5 years since that incident :/

  31. It is better to walk away knowing you've done nothing wrong then stoop to the other persons level. Sometimes easier said then done but always the right choice.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I can't always do it - depending in what kind of head-space I am at any given moment - but I always try to remember that people who hurt other people are hurting themselves and that what they need most is compassion. I still think one should walk away, because in most situations showing that compassion is only going to make it worse. but I do believe it's important to walk away with a sense of empathy rather than one of 'I'm taking the moral high-ground' or 'I'm worth more than this/more than what you are trying to make me feel.' it's all about positive energy. and don't ask me what exactly I mean by that. I haven't really figured that out either. but in the end, so much comes down to [hurt] egos. from the person lashing out to the person at the receiving end. and the only way to really end this cycle is to step away from it without making it personal. I'm not saying you do that, but it's so easy to come out of this thinking one is the better person somehow. one isn't. we are all on a journey. we have all purposefully hurt other people in the past when we were low. we might do it again, no matter our intentions. we are all in this together.

    great post xoxo

  33. That is definitely the right attitude about it! I've found that the best way you can get to people is to not let them affect you in the slightest. Just live your life! "Living well is the best revenge." Especially in a social media era where they can log on and see just how happy you are.

  43. Such a good reminder. For the longest time in America, my husband and me did not care for what we wanted. We always wondered if we were worthy of things that were expensive and we put our wishes aside to send money home. Now that every one has grown children and are earning, we do not have to do that and now we feel that we are worthy of some nice things too.

  77. Launna, I'm so glad that you began to realize your self-worth over time and rise above yourself, your past and the person who hurt you. You know, sometimes you really feel so angry when people hurt you especially if they are supposed to be friends. Like why do friends even do these sort of things? Well, even if they are not your friends, it still hurts and it still angers especially when you haven't done anything much to warrant that. Revenge and getting back really sound very good but you know what, time heals... time really heals. And the peace you get after ll these years is worthwhile. I always feel that in any conflict, we have to be the better person. We can't control the situation or how other people think or behave but we can control ourselves and as long as we do our part, we would rise to be the better person.

    RYC:
Launna, I'm so ashamed to say that I haven't been exercising daily though I'm proud to say that I still workout once every few days. Sometimes once I start exercising, I won't stop and I really need the time at night to work on my other stuff. I would like to think that at least I'm being more active than a sedentary lifestyle. I'm also walking a lot more but that also means I take a longer time to get home from work since walking a lot more indicates that my hub isn't able to pick me from the nearest MRT. I often see your walking tracker/app on FB. Keep up the good work! And yes, less carbs but not a total no carbs is the healthy way to go!

I love reading meaningful quotes and I also love peeking into the lives of other instagrammers. So I hope to see more of your photos together with quotes.
