Learning To Rise Again

I want to thank everyone for their kind comments and messages from last week, I had been feeling very vulnerable and overwhelmed... there are many changes I am dealing with as we all are and I know that none of us have it simple... The point that I wanted to get across last week was that there are times we all feel down and we need to be able to express this, we shouldn't live there as that isn't healthy for us either but I believe we all need to have our feelings validated from time to time.

Our biggest successes in life come from rising after a fall.. no one likes to fail, it can paralyze us from trying again but if we allow it to stop us we will never grow... It's what I have been going through for the last couple of years. I have been frozen with fear to really give love a chance again and not because love didn't work out for him and me, I knew that for a very long time and had come to terms with it before.
What had me stuck for so long was how we had shared everything, all of our hopes, our dreams and how we were the best of friends. I believed I could count on him when I needed to vent or talk about a trial I was going through... and he could most certainly count on me, even today. When I lost that relationship I lost my ability to trust anyone. I put on the face, said the right things but deep down inside I was lost for a very long time.

I had fallen further than I had ever fallen in my life... I kept thinking there was no way I could get back to trusting anyone and definitely not like that again... if he and I could share so many things on such a deep and personal level and still have our friendship fall completely apart... how could I honestly learn to trust anyone even a little? It was then that I thought about how trusting was really learning and that although I fell, I needed to continue to rise.
I guarantee it will be difficult for me to fully trust anyone like I did him... but what I am willing to do today, is start to trust just a little and build from there. Eventually I will trust someone as much or maybe even more than I did him... When I think of other extremely difficult trials I have overcome, none of them were easy but I found a way to rise each time. For I never want to stop learning as that is how I will grow and become stronger.

Maybe that is what he was in my life for, to teach me that even if everything we believe in fails and we fall, it matters that we always rise and learn to try again.

  1. I totally agree, as usual... Like we have two hands and the expression "in the other hand"... We always have to pass through those opposing concepts (failure/success, mistake/learning).

r: This is my favourite summer festival and maybe also because it's an urban event, I believe there's no camping actually... Besides, I live near it, so it's really easy and pleasant! I feel to old to camping actually eheh :) oh and you should go if you want it to! Kisses :)

  7. i had a similar experience four years ago. after ten years with who I thought might [!] be mister right, he walked away [put two continents between us]. we are still friends. but the trust was gone. not just towards him. what I focused on is trusting myself. and by now, despite all the ongoing shit [excuse my language] I do trust myself. which makes all the other trusting that much easier. I invested heavily in myself and it's slowly [!] starting to pay off. so maybe this is an angle you can work on too. instead of wondering if you can trust again, learn to trust yourself. xoxoxo

  14. Once trust is violated, it is really difficult to build it up again. Who wouldn't be wary the next time around? I think you've found the key, though. It takes patience and time, but you can trust again.

  22. Sorry I haven't been around lately. These are lovely thoughts on growing stronger. My best medicine for bad times are my siblings and cousins who can always make me laugh. <3

Thank you for your comment on my blog. You should get those Uggs for your daughter, I found mine on sample sale, so they weren't even expencive, but they had many of unusual colors like purple, icy blue, yellow and soft red.

  23. You are on the right track. I believe we just have to let go and try to enjoy the moments we have and just put the future in the hands of God. We really can't just tell what the future will bring...so we have to take chances...isn't it?

  35. It will take time, but I am sure that slowly, you will learn to trust others again. It may be painful, difficult, but ultimately, you will trust and have good times ahead. That is what life is about, ups and downs, and like you said, maybe this happened so that you can learn to trust again. Thinking of you x

  36. I just read your other post and it was very touching. Hope things are getting better and trust is so scary because once you give it completely to someone, if they hurt you, it's devastating so I can see why you feel like it would be difficult to trust anyone ever again. Hopefully with time and meeting the right person, you will and if nothing else, it's made you stronger.

  43. Rising up after our trust has been broken is very difficult. Walls go up and taking them down takes a lot of time. Healing from inside helps and deciding to let people in is a start to taking those bricks down one brick at a time. Good luck and keep smiling. :)

  47. Hi Launna.... I am in the same boat as u ... it is not easy for me to trust men.. words are no good.. actions speak for themselves.. its so hard to knw who is genuine n who is nt.. just like u even i m trying to tk smaller steps towards trusting men - hopefully i find my soulmate soon :) have a wonderful weekend ♥♥

  48. I completely feel you on this one, dear Launna. After a few failed experiences in my love life it's really really hard to trust again, let alone give my heart to someone new. But I truly loved what you wrote at the end, maybe the reason why these people come in and out of our lives goes beyond a romantic relationship or even a friendship. Maybe these situations were supposed to happen in order to strenghten us, to me there's no greater feeling than when I feel I have overcome something difficult, when I look back and say "Wow, I've gone through a lot from there to here". It's completely rewarding. I am sure you had that feeling before, just remember that sort of inner power you feel after rising and try to do it again, I know you can. :)

  55. So sweetly put, Launna. Well, I know it will be hard to rebuild trust once you are betrayed. But I am happy for you that you have learned how to rise up again. I am fully with you on this. 57. Hi Launna, hope you're doing well. It's been some time since I've dropped by, and I must say your post is as inspiring as always. I really admire your determination despite the adversities you face. I haven't been in the situation you described, perhaps because I've yet to experience more things. I cannot imagine how I would react to the situation where someone I trust the most isn't the person I thought they were. Rebuilding relationships is very difficult and I love how you're very honest and realistic in your reflections. I'm sorry about what happened but I'm also happy for you and that you've found a way to rise and learn from these experiences. You're a very strong person, and your courage and will to preservere is commendable. Take care and have a lovely day. :)

  66. Hi Launna, I don't know the full details on what happened. It's a real cliché to say that things always happen for a reason though I believe they do. Good things... bad things... people... situations... They are all there to be part of lives as lessons in one way or another. Sometimes we don't understand why things happen to us and it is only in retrospect that we do or sometimes, we just don't know at all.

    RYC:
Launna, You have acrophobia right? I'm partly acrophobia, only afraid of heights when in shopping malls when the parapet is made of glass and the bottom would be the view of many stories of shopping mall. If the below are grass and nature, I won't be afraid. The sunset photo has got some tweaking done. The original photo didn't look as good as what my eyes saw.

You owe yourself that much. If your desire is to experience love again and to trust someone, then its time to let go, move on and open yourself to possiblities. Hugs and kisses

  70. I'm so sorry about how you've been feeling, Launna. But your message is so inspiring; even though we fall, we must rise again and try. At a recent graduation I attended, the salutatorian was discussing all he had learned over the years, one of which was to not be discouraged by failure. It's better to try and fail, than to not try at all and live with regrets.
No matter how far we fall, we must rise again. We learn, we become stronger. <3
