Finding The Beauty Of The Butterfly Within Me

I just wanted to share a quick update, I am still walking a lot... over 39 miles last week, I have to say I really enjoy it. I love knowing I can do this even when I thought it wasn't possible at one time... I love proving myself wrong, it makes me know I am capable of much more than I ever thought I was.

I've been thinking about some rather deep thoughts lately, I came across the quote above and realized how true it was... I know many people who are amazing and are unable to see this in themselves, I have often been unable to see this in myself too... When I think about what the butterfly goes through to become the beautiful thing that they are born to be, I am in awe... It is much like all the trials and tribulations that we deal with that help us to become the butterflies we were truly meant to be... and yet we sometimes fail to see our beauty.

This past couple of weeks has had me questioning how unfair life seems, I cannot fathom why some people seem to lie and hurt others but then have what they want and others who are honest and could never hurt another, doesn't have the things they desire... Although it is highly unfair, I came to the conclusion that the people that lie and hurt others are weak and the people that are honest grow stronger through each trial.
Who would I rather be? Even if it is more difficult I want to be the girl that goes through each trial and comes out stronger for them... When I am going through them, it is hard to see the good that can come from them... One in particular nearly destroyed me and I was so positive that I could never get passed it... Some days are still harder than others, some days I see the good and I know one day I will have the answers to why I had to deal with something so devastating that a part of me wondered if I could stop feeling broken...

I know what broken feels like inside, I can never explain it to someone who hasn't felt it... but I do know others who have felt this way too... When someone has told me in the past that all I need to do is see the good and have gratitude, I have honestly wanted to scream at them... I do know that staying there won't help me grow but going through it is what will ultimately strengthen me... I read a quote one time about damaged people being dangerous because they know they can survive... I'm a survivor... if I can climb out of a sadness that threatened to engulf me completely, I can pretty well get through anything thrown at me.
I hope that I will be able to help others get through the trials they are going through because of what I have had to deal with, something good has to come from it... I know for sure I won't just tell someone to see the good and show gratitude... I will tell them to feel the pain, no matter how difficult it is... because one day they will emerge from the cocoon and become the butterfly I know they can be... Eventually they will see the good and show gratitude.

I love that last quote... I am looking for the magic for I want my soul to soar... that would be true freedom and happiness for me. I have found it in the past and I will again in the future. Today I plan to look for the beauty inside me... and remember it was always there.

  1. Hi Launna. Not sure if my comment went though so I will just try again. I love the quote it's definitely very inspiring. I am so glad to hear about your walking that's dedication. I haven't been on Twitter as much as I have wanted to. I have been having a lot of breathing issues lately. Hopefully will be back to normal.

    1. Hi Launna, I'm so sorry it's been a while! I found myself incredibly busy and so hadn't checked up on social media.
I read through your previous posts, and I'm so sorry to have missed your birthday! I hope you had a wonderful time, and you'll have to tell me the date so I can wish you next year <3
Trials do make us stronger...I read something a long time ago about joy in suffering, and embracing challenges. It's hard to go through such things in life, but we have to realize they make us who we are in life, no matter how terrible it is.
I love the quote about butterflies--it reminded me of one of my old friends. She's funny and kind, but suffers with depression and can't always seem to see anything good about herself. No matter our trials, I think we all sometimes struggle with loving ourselves, and fail to see our beauty and strengths.
I wrote this comment as a reply to Rick's because I honestly think it is an amazing idea for you to write a book! I love reading your posts when I can--they are so meaningful and lovely.
Keep being an inspiration! God bless xo

  16. Hi Launna! I know what you mean how life can seem unfair like that and how evil people who may lie or hurt others can go through their entire lives like that although I always believe in Karma at some point. :) Also, great work on your walking (39 miles is soooo much) and I feel like you must get a lot of thinking and probably your blog ideas during those walks.

  27. Hi Launna, first of all I love the new look of your blog. Gorgeous and well done. Trials are so hard to go through. I sometimes say- what is the point of it all? What were the benefits to gain from this? Perhaps just the experiences and knowing how to deal with them are the point of the things we all have to go through sometimes. I am not sure. But often we seem to have something from them. I just hope that I will learn from some of these experiences. Sometimes we all seem to make the same mistakes over and over again?

  32. My dear Launna, I felt particularly touched by this post. I've questioned life so many times about how unfair it can be. Why the people who lie and do everything for them without thinking of other people's feelings seem to get away with it? Believe me, I feel your frustration. But apparentely we have another thing in common, which is trying to switch that frustration and pain from previous bad experiences into strenght. Thank you so much for writing this post, I feel I'm not alone in this feeling, and your motivations helps me to fight my own battle.

I am glad ur walking so much and making that effort. I need to start walking again provided I have the stamina... Wish u a fruitful week ahead xo

  38. So happy you're continuing your exercise and healthy lifestyle - the walking must be wonderful to help you be with your thoughts and gain perspective.

What you said in this post - that those that lie and have bad intentions get what they want.. it's so often true and it angers me to the bone. I don't know why life is like that sometimes - but I do at the same time... for those of us that don't get things easily in life it's because deep down we need to learn something from it. To toughen up I guess... might sound harsh but that's what I believe anyway. And I bet the people that we think get what they want actually don't. Not really. There's a reason they lie and are 'bad' people. I don't know... I'm being far to philisophical today!

On another hand, you're right. Those people that lie ARE weak. We're the strong ones. We just so often don't realise it.

You are beautiful - always remember that. Beautiful and kind.

Looking back I'm usually realizing they were right. It's important we learn to apriciate ourself, so we can always present our best features to others so they can appriciate as well.

Wish you a wonderful weekend, keep up your amazing do with walking :)

  42. I would also rather be the survivor - even though I might not feel that way at the time. While it's definitely important to feel gratitude, you also have to let yourself feel the things that are happening in your life, and not push them down. It's the only way to grow. I hope you have a beautiful weekend!

  53. I like to believe [not sure it's true] that people who are mean, lie and cheat but seem to have everything they want are unhappy or miserable underneath. there must be something missing in their lives. in their past. why else would they behave that way. I always try to look at what motivates people and their actions rather than look at what they do alone. I also acknowledge the fact that all of us go through phases. good ones where it's easier to be kind. bad ones where it might be impossible to be so. but i hear you. life can seem so, so unfair. and I see your struggles. your walking is a great analogy for life. wouldn't it be nice if we could stop working out after we have the body and health we want. but no, we have to maintain it. the same goes for our state of mind. it's a constant work in progress. xoxo

  55. Hey Launna!!
I like that quote from you...especially with regards to dreaming towards the future. I read a quote about the future the other day that I really like, "the most reliable way to predict the future, is the create it." That really acknowledges the power we have within ourselves. We are humans so full of potential when setting and exceeding goals, and making plans and seeing those plans through... I hope you know you are powerful...keep dreaming...keep create your future, because you are in control!

Have a good week lovely lady!!

  61. Life has been throwing me a lot of challenges lately and sadly I think that if I allowed myself to feel all the pain they cause I couldn't really pull myself back together a long time. They all hit me one after another and I didn't have the time to deal with them individually and now they all piled up. Hopefully time really does heal all and I'm doing my best to not think about it and just do what I need to do until it all goes away.
I hope you're going to have a wonderful September!

I do hope that you do not suffer from insomnia anymore as I read from your previous post about how you kept waking up in the middle of the night. 64. This is a beautiful post, Launna :) I always love reading your thoughts so much. It's like you're speaking straight out of my heart and you're always so very inspiring. I have learned that life isn't fair. It's just not. BUT: I still do not want to be one of those people who seem to have it all, making their way by inflicting pain on others, lying and cheating. I want to be at peace with myself even if it means I seemingly have less. I do believe that when you look closer those people have even more self-doubts than we do, they are unhappier, unhealthier, they usually struggle even more with their own lives. They just seem to have it all to everybody else. Do not let that fool you! Being honest and finding inner peace with honesty and kindness is the path to true happiness. I strongly believe that. You are on such an amazing way, Launna. Do not ever give up, you are such a beautiful soul inside and out, you will find the happiness you're seeking. I'm sending a very long and loving hug to you, Beate
