One Moment At A Time

I am not one to make resolutions for the New Year, as I find that most times it is just a set up for failure.  I do believe in setting goals, I just don't like doing it at a set time... for me, I just have to do it when I am ready, the day doesn't really matter.  I actually find the more I think of making a change in my life, the more I find excuses not to...

I have had plenty of challenging years but truthfully who has not? No one has an easy or perfect life, it just doesn't exist. As much as we get upset about the trials we encounter, they have the ability to make us better, stronger more empathetic. Believe me when I say that many challenges make absolutely no sense and actually leaves us wondering why we would have to deal with it. However; given time, I usually have come to understand why.
When Andrey raped me over 8 years ago, I crawled into a shell, I lost my voice... but then I started writing to get it back... I made questionable choices because of the emotional pain I was going through. I am not going to say that I am happy I was raped but I gained a strength I was not aware that I had and I gained an empathy for other people that went through this and other tragedies.

I have been reflecting on the insanity of this past year, wondering what I need to learn from it, the answers don't always come instantly, sometimes they take a great deal of time. I do know that I ended the year on brighter note, I had a lovely Christmas and I am feeling so relaxed now that I am working at home...  I do have a goal which is an ongoing one, I want to be healthy again... I believe that I was given the opportunity to work at home so that I would have the time to work on regaining my health, for this, I am incredibly grateful.
I feel like the last year of my life had me going backwards with my health, I miss how physically fit I was. I read the first quote by Tony Robbins where he said that making a decision in a moment can change the course of our lives... It had me thinking about the many times in my life where I was standing on the edge of change, questioning if I would be able to leap off and trust that I wouldn't fail. Often I looked over the edge and come up with excuses why leaping might not be the best thing to do... Ultimately, I made the decision to go with it, it was only then that I understood it was never as hard as I believed it would be... which makes me question why I keep holding myself back...

The main thing I want to take away from my trials throughout the years is that no matter how difficult they may be, I am strong enough to handle them. I need to remember that while I am right in the middle of a challenge, there is always a way through. Nothing is permanent. Life is so much shorter than we truly know, with the passing years I have come to appreciate the moment I am in... As all we have is one moment at a time...
I want to wish all my blog friends throughout the world a very Happy New Year, I hope it brings love, joy and gratitude ...💗💗💗

  1. Launna, i have to agree with you that the past few years have been challenging. i know we can agree on that no matter what. I agree with you that there has to be something learned from it all. All I can do is just be thankful i made it through all the trials.

  5. You know what? I am not going to make New Years Resolutions this year either. I always do. Every year. Every. Single. Year. But not this year! I am totally with you, lets take life one moment at a time for 2017! *hugs* - http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com

  6. Dearest Launna, you have been through a lot! And I think that being able to write about it and share it can be therapeutic not only for yourself, but for others as well! And I think part of growing includes a step or two backwards sometimes, it is just part of what we go through. But baby steps are better than no steps, and I want you to know that you matter! Wishing you a very Happy 2017, filled with love, joy, peace and prosperity. Warm hugs and love to you.

  9. Dearest Launna,

I'm sorry that you went through so many hard times. You're right, sometimes it's hard to see what purpose it serves to go through these difficult experiences. I believe we must continually strive to learn from what's happened and convert our emotions into something useful, rather than allowing them to overwhelm us.

You're a very strong person and you should have faith in yourself. It's great that you had a positive Christmas this year, for the first time in a long time.

I hope you have a positive and happy year ahead, which brings you closer to achieving your dreams.

It's been great getting to know you better this year. Thank you for always being kind and supportive.

    Lots of love Saba xx

  10. Launna- I hope that 2017 is a year of progress, good health, lots of laughs and a ton of fun! I think you are ready to take on the next year. You have some to some great realizations- we only have the moment we are in. We never know what life has in store for us and we never know what will happen from one moment to the next. We need to try to enjoy the moment!

    Hugs!

  13. My resolutions before last year totally sucked, so I'm not doing them again this year either. (lol) I do make every effort to visit new blogs at least the 1st 3 months into the new year, and that has worked well. The thing about trauma and pain is that it hurts tremendously while we go through it, possibly causing our walls to go up in protective mode. Yet despite the hurt, I do believe that getting through the situation molds us so we can hopefully minister to others in the same situation. You're the best, and I'm wishing you the best New Year ever! Hugs...RO

  15. Dear Launna,
I have no words ... Once again you proved what you are strong. I have to be honest, when I read your sad story, I hated Andrey.
But I am happy that you have passed this bad experience.
    I wish you a beautiful 2017.

  17. I tend not to make New Year resolutions.
However, for those who do I think it is best to make achievable goals so you don't become disillusioned.

I'm pleased your Christmas was good, I found it went by so quickly and now here we are in 2017!

May your 2017 be a good year for you and yours, wishing you happiness and good health

  22. I totally agree with you dear Launna, I don't believe in resolutions for new year, it's just a waste of time for me. Instead I do bealieve as you in setting goals when you're ready, that's the right way to bring them to end.
You've definitely had a very though year, but it made you stronger and way more aware of yourself and this is definitely a good thing, isn't it?
Anyway now seems you're on the right way to have a much more relaxing and happy life! Wishing you a 2017 full of everything good and beautiful and all the love you really deserve!

  27. Launna dear, I'm so happy to be back here, I wish I could hug you _o_
I'm sorry for disappearing with notice, just busy with family matters and no disposition to blog (I also feel my english got worse after so long, sorry for any mistake).
I am also not someone who set goals for new year, I do have goals written, but it is a 5 years rennovation thing (I saw in a book or something). In fact, you are not the first blogger I see posting about not making new year goals in those "happy new year" posts, I guess there is two types of people...
Since we both have to goal to get health again (I don't know if I already told you that I also have depression, and anxiety disorder) let's fight for this together! I'm trying to be strong and just cry when the feelings come and keep doing what I was doing without letting the depression get the best of me, its hard, but its been working. The medicine gave me 40kg+, I tried working out hard, but it was not something I could keep, so my plan is to eat health and make smart choices in the daily life to see if scale starts to change (because working out didnt make it move at all).
Have a blessed new year! Love you!!!

  28. I really hate resolutions for New Year. I feel the same way you do! I set up my resolutions when I feel that I´m ready too. Thats the only way it´s suppose to be.
I totally know what you mean. At the end you are looking back on the past year and ask yourself what really worked out...you can´t always challenge everything and I really believe that we are getting stronger by every failure and every success.
He raped you and there is now excuse and there never will be any excuse, but I feel that you became such and incredible and strong women you never believed you could ever be, 8 years ago. This strength is something that Valentina will always be proud of!!
I believe that 2017 will be a year with so many milestones that you gonna accomplish!! Many hugs, Martin

  35. Happy New Year. I completely agree about resolutions and also the setting of goals. It's not realistic at all to be able to suddenly change because it is the first day of the year. I am pleased to hear about the positive impact of your working from home. Look forward to hearing more of your journey this year.

  38. HNY dear Launna! Hope you had a good celebration! About resolutions, I am with you. I don't want to keep these so called New Year Resolutions as one can resolve to do anything when one wants it, not particularly on New Year! Well that's what I believe at least! I see you as someone who has experienced a lot of things and to identify how I see you as, I see you as a swimmer, like someone who's swimming across an Ocean but manages to surface stronger and more determined to cross it. I have so much faith in your positivity, I know you'll be a happier, more determined person this year! Love you always!

I'm so happy you have found strength through everything and you're right, nobody has an easy life, everyone goes through their own struggles, just differently to others. I'm sure 2017 is going to be amazing for you!
