Time has been flying by so quick lately, I have been busy at work, doing overtime, staying late to get work done and starting early. By the time I'd get off, it was all I could do to just make a meal and keep up with the housework. There are less than two weeks left for the busiest time of year at work, I am looking forward to having time for myself again. This weekend is a long one for us in Nova Scotia today, it is Family Day... I made sure I had all the housework and grocery shopping done so that today would just be for me to write... oh and get caught up on my blogs... I am way behind and I have truly missed you all.
I think I need to consider giving television up again, I did it for 5 months before and I didn't miss it... it is such a time waster for me. I haven't been able to give it up totally, so I have been contemplating having one day a week where I can watch a couple of my favorite shows and turn it off for the rest of the time. Then I could actually use my time for other activities such as cooking, reading, exercising and keeping in contact with people I love. I have been questioning what I really want as I find that I am doing the opposite of what I say I want... I do wish it was easier to commit to doing what I say...
I remember being so committed, I had a goal and I was driven... it's like I let the challenges break me. I am being honest here, I let those challenges break me, it's like I am terrified of committing to anything... I have failed so many times in the last year to year and a half. Part of me thinks if I don't commit I won't fail again... When I know that if I don't commit I will fall backwards... because the truth is if we are not moving forward, we are going backwards. I want to change that feeling, I want to face the fear and move through it...
I have been acting like I am weak and unable to fix the broken parts of me... somehow it seemed easier than facing the truth and making the changes. I have grown through many challenges that I often believed were impossible for me to see through to the other side... Each time the trial seemed insurmountable and yet I made it over each mountain over and over... becoming stronger. Every one of us has numerous tests we are given, we all have to decide for ourselves if we are going to fight to get through or let them bury us.
I have been allowing it to bury me and frankly, it hasn't felt good... I have talked the good talk for months but they have been empty words, admitting that I have been going backwards is the first step in moving forward. I know I cannot make all the changes I want all at once, I have to start prioritizing what is important and then build on it each day. No one climbed a mountain in one day, it took climbing hills and gaining strength and knowledge to get to the top of the mountain. I know I have to commit all the way but... I don't have to commit to everything all at once, that will just continue to make me feel like a failure and I won't ever succeed at anything.
The good thing for me is that spring is on its way here, still a month or so away but I am seeing the light... and Valentina has her orthodontist appointment in less than two weeks, so I will finally have a price to fix her teeth. Half the issue is not knowing, I can't commit any other money anywhere until I know what I will be needing on a monthly basis. Also, I will then be able to get around easier when the snow is gone and the daylight will last later in the day... I have hibernated with winter, more so than usual but it's time for me to take the first step of ascending that mountain I want to climb to the top of... Although there will be setbacks, the comeback is always stronger...

Hibernation and in limbo - both hard places to get out of until "seasons" change. I know you'll see your way out soon!
ReplyDeleteLove that quote. It's so true. Spring is coming and I think it'll bring great things.
ReplyDeleteJasmine xx
I can totally relate Launna - I actually wrote about something similar today. It's so hard to keep going sometimes. Hang in there - I know you can do it!
ReplyDeleteLaunna, I agree with Lana, I know you can do it! I, too, can relate. Sending you much love and warm hugs.
ReplyDeleteThe arrival of spring and the end of winter always feels like a new start to me. I hope it will work out that way for you too.
ReplyDeleteblessings....
ReplyDeleteI want to start by saying "stop being so hard on yourself." You are not weak you are human. We all have week moments and we are not the sum total of those weak moments.
Second I would like to say, If you want to work on yourself and create shifts start we the true acceptance of the self and understand that all of you is ENOUGH. Be mindful acceptance does not mean you don't have work to do, it simply means loving yourself as you are in every moment even when you are not entirely enamored with certain aspects of your personality, characteristics and choices. The other piece is to live consciously noting when you make decisions that ultimately is not in your best interest. This will bring in awareness. The key is not to beat yourself up when you come into awareness. It is to observe patterns of behaviors, thinking and feeling in that moment. This will teach you your triggers, the who, the what, the where, the why. What this will do is help you to develop strategies to coping and actively dealing with self-sabotaging practices. Make it a habit and the shift you want will come.
third, i want to encourage you to practice self-care. Learn to treat yourself, pamper yourself, be forgiving and compassionate to yourself and don't allow yourself to fall into self-depreciating derisive self-talk. Start by creating some balance. I hear you working and working and working but I don't hear you creating space and time to take care of you. While work is important it is not more important than you are. Work is work and while it has value in that it helps keep the roof over your head and put food on the table it is not more valuable than you are. Here is a tough reality, in work, you are replaceable, if you get sick and are unable to function they will find someone to do your job. what is not replaceable is your the woman, the human being. You are not valueless. You are valuable and you must determine your worth and that starts be taking care of you, treating you with kindness, forgive yourself your humanness and learn to do for you that which your heart secretly desire others will do for you. Start there and create the standard of how you will be treated going forward.
I wish you peace, contentment, love, acceptance and understand of self.
Stay blessed.

Time is going by way too fast. I want it to slow down so I can enjoy. I agree about television potentially being a waste of time, but do appreciate it is nice to relax with sometimes. I usually try to make sure I’m always doing something else if I watch tv such as housework, blogging or commuting to and from work. I am sure you can commit and make changes in your life because you’ve done it before and come so far. I always associate progress with you.
ReplyDeleteIts always something..I guess. Sounds like the forecast is looking up. Its good to read another post. I hope all goes well with Valentina. All the best. I've got your link upgraded.
ReplyDeleteTelevision does take up so much time, before you know it you've been sitting in front of it for 2 hours or more. I actually no longer own a T.V. Haha! I watch shows on Netflix once in a while. Then I just focus on things I really enjoy which fill my life with happiness, like spending time with family and friends, or photography, creating things I love. Hope you find that balance and focus to stay on track. I have challenges too, but surrounding myself with people that are doing similar things helps me stay focused and on track. Have a wonderful rest of the week Launna!

Your determination depicts how strong a person you are.
ReplyDeleteYou'll always be an inspiration.
Stay strong.

Very few of us have the guts to really look at ourselves honestly, and admit we need to get moving or make changes, so kudos to you. A pastor once preached that when we are tested and don't pass, we'll go through that same test again and again until we do. So you're right - that's what makes the comeback so powerful and wonderful. Don't be so hard on yourself, you're an amazing woman! Hugs...
ReplyDeleteLaunna, I´m sorry too...Havent been here too much. You are such amazing woman, and there will be day, when you just do. You know, it goes as naturally as breathing... just dont stress about it, and let it come :) <3 I think that you know what I mean. Reason, why I havent been too much in blogs, is that I had, still having and coping from burn out. My mother in law etc etc.. now, actually in last week, she had a good place from one older people home, but there was so so much before that. I try to write my blog, to keep me with living :) and seeing some positive things, like that mascara.. not too heavy things.. but you know, I´m always here and my messenger is always open for you, if you need... hugs much and good vibes! xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteYou are so right. We all have to prioritize because we are all humans. I am pretty sure even machines do get their job limits and are designed in such a way that they have fewer chances to break down. Please treat yourself better than a machine.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with Valentina's orthodontists visit. I hope that he does not charge a huge amount. I also hope that you guys have a good dental plan. Love to you guys and hugs to Valnetina for being brave.
Everything is better when the Spring arrives and in two weeks you will be less busy at work :)
ReplyDeleteI gave up watching TV over 10 years ago and I do not miss it, I only use the screen to watch films... but I waste a lot of time in the social media, I need to control my time spent there better ;)
I hope you enjoyed this lovely family time and long weekend xxx

Hugs....it is so easy to feel overwhelmed...don't mentally over-commit yourself.
ReplyDeleteI know when I do that I mentally dump everything and then just do nothing because I can't handle thinking abut ANYTHING... lol
Do it slowly. There is no race. Focus on things that give you peace.
Also, you are awesome!!
there are many challenges we face in life, but we must surrender, we must be strong and keep on going!!!

I need to stay away from TV too. I did a little bit last year
ReplyDeleteDear Launa, thanks a lot for all your lovely comments on my posts. I hope we both can sleep better, not only longer. Quality matters... I miss spring and hope it will come soon, days are a little longer, light helps...
ReplyDeleteA big hug!
Take your time and enjoy the little things in life, beautiful. Time sure is moving fast that's why its important to not let life pass us by. I can't wait for Spring. I'm tired of the cold. Ha!! Keep your head up. :)
ReplyDeletehttp://missymayification.blogspot.co.uk
You did it in the past, you'll do it again. And heck you'll come out stronger. I have no doubt that you have what it takes to be where you want to be. I hope family day was fun. I am just about ready for Spring. This cold is no joke.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.fashionablyidu.com/
You're the most self-analytic person I've ever known, but maybe you shouldn't criticize yourself so much. You ARE strong. Maybe you feel a little discouraged right now, but you WILL get back on track, and you WILL succeed. I have faith in you. Have some faith in yourself. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard that before, "Comebacks are stronger than setbacks" what a geat sentiment! It's hard being motivated in winter as I think the natural urge is to just get comfortable and that often means staying in our current routines. Hopefully the warmer weather will inspire and energise you to kick more of your goals in the coming months! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a wonderful week :)

I have missed you, too as I am so far behind! You have to keep trying my friend! OK, so you may fail but if you don't try you won't succeed either! TV is a time suck and I totally get it. It is just easier to watch TV sometimes than it is to deal with reality. One thing I am doing is turning Facebook on and off. Instead of having it up all day on my computer or phone I only let myself check it a few times a day and then I turn it back off! I thought of picking a day to be FB free but this seems to be helping. I actually made it here today! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteIt does sound as if you've been busy ... and sometimes not easy in the winter months, with darker days, somehow our energy levels can slip!
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely thought that Spring may just be around the corner.
Lovely to read your blog post.
Take care, and I hope Valentina's orthodontists visit goes well.
All the best Jan

The spring coming so with that I hope new opportunities.
ReplyDeleteI've always believed that too.
ReplyDeleteI think we all have our own shares of setbacks. But look at us. Look at you, Launna. I know you'll be okay. :)
Good to see you back and read some inspirations again from you.
I just wrong a huge comment to you and it deleted, hopefully this one works. I feel you completely, Launna. The struggle and denial, the hibernation, it's something I have been doing too this Winter. With the pains and the constant health issues, it's completely lost all my enthusiasm and drive. I feel like I'm just going from one day to the next just scraping by when I should have goals and passion. It's one thing to think about all these things we need to do and to actually do them. Finding the will power is hard. I am hoping with warmer weather on the horizon we will feel better. The TV thing is hard though, I don't think I can be without my shows as I love to wind down and relax.

Hi Launna, I can't wait for Spring too. I pray you find the balance you are reaching for. I know it is easier said than done. Just keep pushing untill you find it. Take care and hugs.

Dear Launna, thank you once again for your honest writing, but I will also add that it's okay if you can't get all those things done. You have a right to rest, a right to say I don't want to get it done in two weeks or two years. It really is okay. I believe we all have something that makes us get back on our feet once the waiting period is over and that's determination. Take care love

Launna, I think you're doing the best you can and you have overcome so much. Look at how far you've come not how far you want to go. It's what I do and it helps me remember that I really am in a good place. Hugs to you special lady.
ReplyDeleteI have so little time for television. I sit down with my husband around 10 PM and watch one show. That's it.
ReplyDeleteSpring is always a time of rebirth and joy... it is a wonderful time to focus on comebacks in all forms! I am wishing you a HAPPY and prosperous and joyous spring my sweet friend! <3 - http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
ReplyDeleteThings seems to be challenging again on your end, Launna but you are right, the first step is to admit the challenges. I hope with the arrival of Spring you'll feel motivated again, my friend.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
I think sometimes we have to learn to step back first, before we can proceed. There are so many challenges and it´s kind of scary when you think about it. May we should focus on the most important once and fix them. Step by step.
ReplyDeleteAlways find the time to treat yourself well. I think that you only can be a wonderful mum and amazing person, when you learn to take care of yourself.
I stopped watching television as well. It´s so time consuming and when I think about there are 1000 things that are more important to me.
I totally understand you. It´s time that we will finally enjoy the sun outside and that summer will arrive, finally :)
Plz never forget that you are only human and always think about all the challenges you´ve managed over the last years!
I send you all my love,
Martin

You can do it! I actually recently saw a video that might be relevant to you. Look for "Why motivation is crap" by Mel Robbins. (I think that's the spelling.)
ReplyDeleteAll the best with your come-back.
I think that everyone at sometime falls off the planand it's ok as it makes one to refocus on things
ReplyDeleteCutting off some time from is a nice idea
TV... We don't even have the TV hooked up, but we watch a few shows online. That number has dwindled lately, and I can't say that any of us are sad about it. =) I think sometimes the simple life is the happiest life.
ReplyDeleteAchei aquela máscara muito boa! ;D

Oh Launna, this happens to all of us. If there's something me and the rest of your readers can tell is that you're not a weak person. You are human. You are allowed to have moments of 'weakness'. Plus, you said yourself, you've been really busy lately.
ReplyDeleteThe act tha spring is coming is not a minor thing. the transition toward the warmest months o fthe year usually motivates us in a genuine way and I'm sure it will be that extra motivation you might need. You got this, my friend! I know you do!
xx
Great post ,so true time flies and we often do have enough time to do what we love http://www.styleofzion.com
ReplyDeleteI think that sometimes we need to stop being so hard on yourself. So, what if we commit to something and give up? The important thing is to try and to care, sometimes changes take time...and sometimes things have a way of resolving themselves- sometimes all we get wrong is timing, you know?
ReplyDeleteI like what you say about moving through fear... it might sound funny, but there is one quote from a well known science fiction Dune that always inspired me, it is called Litany against fear and it goes like this:
"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
I also like what Shakespeare said: 'Cowards die many times, the valiant only taste death once.'
Hi there dear Launna! You will be there, where you want to be...you will... I know. You are strong, and yet..in a right way, soft. One needs both to be strong... ;) You know, what I mean, I´m sure. I wanted to thank you also..you have been visiting in my blog more often, than I have bee. here...It means a lot to me. Still fighting my way back, but also, like you, will do that. Have a beautiful weekend <3 xoxox

You're too severe withyourself dear Launna! Really!
ReplyDeleteI can understand you'd like to follow all your programs to set your life as organized and eficient possible, but you cannot forbid any indulgence to yourself, or you'll came to a brack point!
Be gentle with yourself especially in the little things: do you like a tv show? well, you could watch it while you're doing your houseworks, pamper a little yourselfe every day!
You've passed throughso much, think at the one or 2 years ago yourself and you'll see how much you overcame and how much you grown up! You survived to the worst, you can do everything!
Have a lovely week end!

When the time is right, you will come out of "hibernation" and be stronger than ever. Hang in there, my friend. <3
ReplyDeleteComebacks are a true testament to the resiliency of us as human beings :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you a wonderful weekend, Launna! :)
I think it is easier to give up tv and get motivated in the spring. In the cold winter, I want to be motivated- but it is harder for me to get going and do what I need to do when it is dark and chilly. I know, excuses- but they are true. I think giving up tv except for one day will be a great plan. It will be awesome to see what you can do in the time you aren't watching tv.
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best of luck!

Dearest Launna,
ReplyDeleteI hope you've been well. It's always refreshing to read your blog posts, and I appreciate your eloquence and honesty. What you said makes a lot of sense. I like the idea of tackling a seemingly insurmountable goal in small, manageable steps, and taking one day at a time. That way, the process seems less daunting, and the big goals we set for ourselves become more attainable. With this realisation, I'm certain that you WILL achieve your aims!
p.s - Thank you so much for the lovely comments you left on my blog. It truly means so much to me.
Lots of love Saba xx

It's that sweet, sweet feeling of hope and starting again and coming back after being challenged... facing challenges and difficulties that we get to be stronger. I'm also struggling with life right now, but not as difficult as what I was going through end of last year. It was a difficult time but I'm glad I went through it because it made me stronger. Launna, I'm sure everything that you're going through right now is just a phase for better and happier blessings. Please don't let the challenges bury you. I'm glad that you're seeing the light and I hope spring can bring you a happier heart. :) Wishing you all the best!

I missed you too dear friend.
ReplyDeletereading you is like therapy for me as you write straight from heart.
i think you should writ a book too.
i been once a t.v addict [almost seven years ago] and learn lot about life though but then gradually thoughts started came in my mind to resist this habit and do something that would be practically productive and i slowly reduce this addiction ,now i only spend hardly one hour after being free from all necessary jobs and this change brought lot good in my life .
you are doing great to set you priorities it will make things easy for you .
Wishing you a happy healthy life with your precious family dear!
